New different application of Neodymium Iron Boron Magnet
*Neodymium magnet in Industrial This market is a large user of magnets and covers many different disciplines but generally focuses on the mechanical uses that magnets offer. These include holding, repelling, separating and switching. The scale of work can be varied, from large assemblies to small, customer specific components or devices. MSS has a large range of pot holding systems in stock and these are widely used as a way of fastening or clamping. These provide an effective magnetic performance, and with the right choice of material they will work in hostile environments, such as under high temperature or underwater.
*Neodymium magnet in electrical instrumentation
The electrical instrumentation market uses a great deal of magnets throughout. Some MSS customers use many different types of magnets in many different ways, often in large quantities. Uses include: holding, switching, sensors, relays, actuators, gauges, biasing and motors. With the introduction of the higher strength materials, such as NdFeB and SmCo, many applications have been reduced in size. However, there is often still a need for high stability materials for sensitive instrumentation and here Alnico is still used.
*Neodymium magnet in Transport
The modern day car with all its sensors, motors and entertainment systems is another large user of magnets and magnetic systems. MSS has been at the forefront of some exciting developments, providing R&D departments in some of the major automotive and railway engineering companies, helping them develop motion and positioning sensing assemblies, hydraulic valve systems. High performance engineering as also benefited from talking to and using MSS, with Formula power boat and motorbike racing teams all being regular customers.
*Neodymium magnet in oil&gas
The oil and gas industry, both above and below ground, offer some unique challenges for permanent magnet designs. This is particularly so in downhole applications, where the combination of temperature and corrosion tends to dominate. Here MSS has been able to provide many solutions where SmCo, and in some cases high-temperature grade NdFeB has offered designers the ability to solve many problems. Some examples of applications include:
sensors
bearings,
seals
torque drives
couplings,
fishing tools
well-bore cleaning tools
switchable lifting magnets
specialist holding devices
voice coil motors for gasvalves All of these must function reliably under hostile conditions.Above ground, robustness is a key feature and MSS has produced mud cleaning devices for many years, these include ditch magnets and, tube separators. Pipeline inspection tools also require many magnets, not only for collection of ferrous contamination used in PIGs (Pipeline Inspection Gauges), but also for sensing, tracking and magnetic flux leakage testing, all of which are non-destructive testing techniques.
*Neodymium magnet in vacuum The use of magnets in containing, controlling and shaping plasma and particles is well known. MSS has served the vacuum industry by supplying many high-tech companies, universities and research establishments, enabling them to achieve their goals.
Magnets used in sputtering Magnetrons often require specific grades of material that sometimes benefit from batching and selection for their individual magnetic or physical properties. This is to ensure uniformity of performance in the device. These can be racetrack, rotary or circular magnetron designs, both large and small.
Magnets are often used in vacuum pumps, drives, torque coupling devices and in ferro-magnetic fluid seals.
Some advanced work, such as ion beam control, dead alignment, annealing dipoles, NMR and other uniform or rotating field work all use specialist magnetic devices. MSS can assist in these types of projects by supplying magnets to customer specific designs, or by drawing on its wide network of business partners and engineering support for magnetic modelling, mapping and specialist assembly building.
*Neodymium magnet in medical
MSS has provided magnetic solutions to a wide variety of applications used within the medical and diagnostics industry, where reliability and quality are paramount requirements. These include voice coil motors for life support systems, sensor magnets, valves and magnetic particle separation devices. These are all useful tools in the fields of manual testing, research, production and high-throughput screening.
*Neodymium magnet in office&work place
Most warehouses with metal racking require labelling to help with the logistics of the inventory. flexible magnetic strip or Profile is often used to identify and label racking systems. Marker magnets in different colours are often used on white boards. Modern offices can have steel partitioning, where fixing is a problem, MSS provide a range of magnetic picture hooks, coat hooks and other low profile magnetic fixing alternatives. Safety in machine shop is also important, MSS supplies a magnetic sweeper to aid the removal of machining swarf.
