2.Description
     This item includes one piece of pyrolytic graphite approximately 1/2" square x .04" thick and four 1/2" cube NdFeB grade 50 magnets. The magnets are magnetically stuck to a 1" square steel plate. A small wooden box is included to hold the magnets and pyrolytic graphite.
     Pyrolytic graphite is a synthetic material made by chemical vapor deposition, Methane gas at low temperature is heated to 2000 degrees Celsius. Layer upon layer is deposited at a rate of 1/1000" per hour. The layers of carbon atoms form crystals of hexagonal sheets.
     NdFeB magnets will not lose their strength if they are not heated and pyrolytic graphite is an extremely stable and inert substance. This means that the pyrolytic graphite will levitate forever. This is sort of perpetual un-motion. This perfect state of balance is truly inspiring to see. Why not set up this levitator in a place where it can be viewed but not disturbed.
